Faez Sarraj has left for Misurata to put pressure on Misurata to accelerate implementation of the reconciliation agreement with Tawergha.
The head of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Sarraj has arrived today to third-largest Libyan city of Misurata, 250 km east of Tripoli.
Fayez Sarraj was received by his first deputy Ahmed Maitiq, a Misuratan origin, upon his arrival to the city’s international airport
GNA head held talks with the mayor of Misurata Mustafa Karwad and the Central military zone commander Mohamed Al-Haddad to discuss what action had been taken to secure the return of Tawergha refugees and guarantee what provides the reconciliation agreement.
The so-called historic reconciliation between Misurata and Tawergha town, achieved in early June of 2018, is designed to end seven-year war that erupted during anti-Qaddafi uprising in 2011 and led to the ethnic cleansing of Tawerghans by Misrata’s armed groups.
